Vision & Mission
The pillars of the association
The work of the association is based on three pillars. The aim is to promote the attractiveness of Austria as a meeting location and to enable the growth of its members. With a great vision in mind to develop Austria into the most promising meeting platform of the world.
Community
The association provides both in-person and digital platforms for employees of convention companies and organizations to regularly exchange ideas on current topics. At the annual Convention4u conference, valuable relationships are built, and knowledge is shared within the industry.
Knowledge
The ACB researches, experiments and bundles relevant information and, together with its members, forms the essential knowledge hub for the meetings industry. With the ACB know.how training series, the association offers seminars and workshops for colleagues from a wide range of fields on topics relevant to the industry. The ACB attaches particular importance to the active training of young professionals: for the practice-oriented advanced course “Event and Congress Design” at the Vienna University of Applied Sciences of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, lecturers from the ranks of the ACB train young professionals for the industry every year. With the ACB Award Best Meeting Thesis Austria (BMTA), a stage was created in 2013 for researchers in the meeting sector that supports cross-generational exchange as well as networking and knowledge transfer.
Lobbying
The umbrella organization presents the importance of the Austrian meeting industry to the public, represents the interests of the industry to decision-makers and advocates for a sustainable meeting culture in Austria. The Meeting Industry Report Austria (mira) plays a major role in this regard, providing data to substantiate the importance of this industry.
As the initiator of the Austrian Eco-label Guideline UZ 62 for Green Meetings, the ACB pursues its pioneering role and strives to further advance the implementation of sustainable events together with its members.
Environmental mission statement
Status: June 1, 2022
Let’s think about our future, act sustainably and set a good example.
As part of its statute, the Austrian Convention Bureau, as the umbrella organization of the Austrian convention and meeting industry, has committed itself among other things to the promotion and further development of the Green Meetings eco-label. “We see strong development potential in Green Meetings. Here we will inform our customers much more about what is possible to implement a congress or a meeting not only in terms of content but also ecologically sustainable. We are pleased that the number of Green Meetings licensees and certified events is growing. This proves the rethinking of the entire meeting industry, is a prerequisite for future growth and corresponds to the wishes of the meeting participants,” says Gerhard Stübe, past president, about the efforts of the umbrella association to promote events that comply with this guideline.
